Mr Kuntal Majumdar

Mr. Kuntal Majumdar joins Maharana Hanwant Sainik School as Principal, bringing with him a distinguished career spanning over three decades in education, academic leadership, and institutional development. A visionary educator and accomplished administrator, he is widely recognized for fostering academic excellence, driving organisational transformation, and promoting the holistic development of students within nurturing and high-performing learning environments. A Postgraduate in English Literature with a degree in Education, Mr. Majumdar holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in Leadership and Management from the London School of Business Administration. He is also certified in Child Protection for School Children by COBIS, UK, and in Child Mental Health and Adolescent Emotional Wellbeing through programmes conducted by Education Singapore, Education New Zealand, and ICTRC, New Delhi. Further strengthening his leadership credentials, he is currently pursuing a certification in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School. His professional expertise encompasses academic governance, strategic planning, policy implementation, institutional effectiveness, and pastoral care, enabling sustainable growth and continuous improvement within educational institutions. With more than 30 years of teaching experience in English, Debating, and Dramatics across both residential and day schools, and over 18 years of administrative and leadership experience, Mr. Majumdar has served in key capacities at some of India’s most respected educational institutions, including Mayo College, Ajmer; Vidya Devi Jindal School; and Ashok Hall Girls’ Residential School. Throughout his career, he has championed innovation in teaching and learning while building strong cultures of accountability, collaboration, and student-centred excellence. An advocate of global engagement in education, Mr. Majumdar has facilitated and nurtured academic, literary, and cultural collaborations with several prestigious international institutions, including Aitchison College, Lahore; The Royal Bhutan Academy, Paro; The Hutchins School, Tasmania; Wycombe Abbey Senior School, Hong Kong; and the University of Oxford. These partnerships have enriched students’ learning experiences by fostering intercultural understanding, leadership, and global citizenship. Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Majumdar is deeply passionate about literature, poetry, storytelling, theatre, and travel. He has conceptualised, scripted, designed, and directed more than fifteen full-length theatrical productions and has successfully mentored students for the prestigious Trinity College London Examinations in Speech and Drama.
